Dispenza Study Group
Facilitated by Edie Crane
Unity was founded on self-empowering spiritual principles. Its matriarch, Myrtle Fillmore was inspired to put these principles to the test in healing from a terminal disease. Fast forward to the late 20th century to a young man who, using many of the same principles but from a scientific perspective, healed himself of a severely damaged spinal column. That young man is Dr. Joe Dispenza, a doctor of Chiropractic who, after his healing, devoted himself to the study of spontaneous remissions and the placebo effect. This led him to begin teaching what he had learned and developing an ongoing program of self-empowering meditative and self-awareness techniques.

He now has 4 books outlining the sound scientific underpinnings of how people are able to heal themselves. His work explains the science of how Myrtle was able to heal herself. There are many many testimonials of folks who have used these principles to heal themselves and improve the circumstances of their lives.

In this study group, we'll explore the Dispenza teachings beginning with his second book "Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself". We'll support each other in learning and applying these principles in our daily lives.

The first meeting will be Sunday, October 13th after service. We'll watch the movie "Source: Its Within You", which outlines the extensive scientific studies that are the backbone of this work.

The group will meet on Zoom three Wednesdays a month from 7:30 - 9 pm and then on the fourth session will meet in-person in the sanctuary from 7:45 -9:15 for an extended meditation session.

The group will run for 10 weeks.

A love offering to UOG is appreciated for this group.

How can I look back with gratitude, and look ahead to passing on to someone else what I’ve learned?” Each week we will look at a short Bible passage (longest is 44 verses) and discuss questions meant to bring introspection into our lives.

-
Tuesdays (starts Oct 8th)7 - 8:30pm on Zoom

This process leads to peacemaking in ourselves, our relationships and outer circumstances. Come be transformed and deepen the connection to your spiritual self: the “I” in the storm of conflict. Small group ministry is not a new concept. It has been shown that small group ministries (SpiritGroups) are valuable in creating community, engaging people in deep, lasting spiritual growth, meaningful friendships and by bringing people together in a spirit of love and support.

A Kickoff Informational meeting will be held on Sunday October 6th, 2024, after the Sunday service.
Brochures are available in the church lobby.
